Captain in the Army

I have been chatting with a captain in the Army stationed in Afhanistan. I am wondering how I could find out if he is legit or not. His name is Walter Peter Smith and is retiring next week and coming home to the USA. Please let me know at snowball5675@yahoo.com. I would greatly appreciate it very much as I don't want to get my heart broken if he isn't who he says he is. He has promised many different things to me like going to France for Christmas. He has not asked for any money yet. But, I am a little leary of him since he was writing from Asia.
